I hope you have been thriving (more than surviving) during the lockdown period. We can’t deny that these are tough times, but there have definitely also been some positive pearls birthed through this period. Perhaps you have had a bit more time to pause, breathe and appreciate the people and/or nature that surrounds you. Perhaps your gratitude for simpler things has turned up a notch. Perhaps you’ve learned a new respect and appreciation for the power of community. Perhaps you have allowed yourself to experience surrender and accepted the reality check which is this: perhaps you don’t possess the control that you thought you did.
Hopefully you’ve learned to go easy on yourself and accept that your best is more than enough.
Aside from the “big thoughts”, maybe you’ve spent a bit more time in the kitchen? In between the endless spirals of washing and cleaning and homeschooling, I know I have! Since my “Fudgery tools” were mandatorily put to one side several weeks ago, I have had the opportunity to do a lot more baking, which I hardly ever get to do. I have never baked so many different types of bread in my life! But last week I decided to focus the kitchen back to Fudgery business (much to my children’s delight!) and started experimenting with some delicious fudgy biscuits. Soon the weather will be lending itself to hot drinks and cozy blankets; and what better accompaniment than a chunky, fudgy chocolate cookie?
