I am so excited to launch this new & very special gift range, I can hardly wait to press “publish”! This concept has been and on my mind (and in my heart) for a long while now. Angelfoods has always been more about gifting than anything else (hence our tagline “Someone was thinking of you”). And this year, more than any, has leaned towards being more about our “neighbours”, than ourselves. We’ve been encouraged to make sacrifices, not so much for our own sakes, but for the sake of others; the vulnerable among us.
Without a doubt, Lockdown posed many threats. But it also afforded us many opportunities to realise that “we’re all in this together” and that we, as people, have more things in common (that connect us), than not. I think each one of us, at some stage, paused for a moment to appreciate the fact that we really do need each other. I really believe there’s something inherent in each of us that makes us (a) long to be part of something bigger than ourselves and (b) want to reach out and give help to others. There is a goodness within each of us, that was planted there in the beginning; way back when in the garden of Eden.
The meaning of “Eden” is closely associated with the Hebrew word “delight”. And, of course, the garden of Eden is well-known as the location for the Creation story. And so EDEN seemed like the perfect name for our new gift range, which is all about the Creation of New and Delightful Things.
When I think about us as South Africans, words that come to mind are: resilient and innovative. The Eden Gift Range is all about celebrating such people; local entrepreneurs who are working hard to create new and delightful things, in order to support and uplift their communities. There are so many stories to be told, beautiful products to be showcased; and it is my hope and vision, through this gift range, to do just this. There’s no better time than now to celebrate new beginnings.
Each gift box in the range is based on a theme (Love, Joy, Hope, Community) and each box showcases a beautiful product made by a local entrepreneur or community. The purpose of this gift range is to create awareness around these businesses and tell the story behind the courageous Creators of the products.
Also in each box is the following: a display set of theme-based, uniquely-designed “daily inspiration” cards, a set of mini gift cards (with original artwork by Life Child) and, of course, a selection of delicacies from the Fudgery kitchen. As always, a portion of proceeds from the boxes will go directly to Life Child (Hope 2020 Campaign: giving hope to orphan and vulnerable children).
