One of the things that has really struck me during Lockdown is the power of community. I have so loved reading stories of how ordinary people are doing extraordinary things to help the vulnerable during these times. It’s true what they say: “when you empty your hand to give, it is left open to receive”. But what you receive may not always be what you expect; it may come in the form of joy and an inner sense of fulfillment. I really believe that each one of us is created with a community-shaped void in our hearts. When we fill this void by doing acts of kindness for each other, we are left with a sense of deep fulfillment. Our Creator knew what He was doing; He knew that we would not only need Him, but we would need each other too! I’m sure there are many of you who have reached out and joined local organisations helping communities in need; and for that, I salute you! I also thank you for supporting my business. Through your sales, we are continuing to support the Life Child Hope Campaign, and also my kitchen staff member (who is not able to come in to work).
Many small, home-based businesses have been left bereft over the past few months. However, this has also offered the opportunity to implement some creative thinking and solutions; and the chance to promote local, smaller brands. I know I, for one, would rather support small businesses in our local community, than larger retailers. I have loved finding out about local suppliers who are producing high quality, interesting products. I have also been encouraged to see how many South Africans are, by nature, resilient and innovative!
And so, for this Lockdown Special, I am excited to collaborate with 2 local bakers in our community. Enter: Sam’s Fabs Foods and Jacky’s Kitchen. Here is the scrumptious box of mixed treats we have put together for your tasting enjoyment:
Mixed Bakers Box of Treats
The box contains:
- A pack of 4 large Cranberry & Macadamia Crunchies from Sam’s Fab Foods
- 200g Black Forest (Chocolate & Cherry) Gourmet Rusks from Jacky’s Kitchen
- 250g fudge from Angelfoods Fudgery

The cost of the box is R150, R10 of which will go directly to the Life Child Hope 2020 Campaign*
We are still keeping our deliveries local. Delivery is therefore only available to Cape Town residents in Rosebank, Rondebosch, Claremont and Newlands. A delivery fee of R20 applies (except for Lynfrae residents). However, anyone is welcome to rather collect from me in Claremont.
Keep an eye on the Lockdown section of my online shop. Some of Jacky and Sam’s other treats will also be made available here.
